Requirements

For this mountain tour you should have a good head for heights, be sure-footed and in good physical condition and have already gained some mountain experience. Special knowledge such as knot and rope techniques are not required, you will receive basic information during the introductory days.

After arriving in Vent and checking-in at your accommodation, there will be an official welcome where you will meet your tour mates and your contact person, the hiking guide. In addition to the first important details about the program of the next few days, you will also receive your starter package. Afterwards, you get to know the other participants in the tour over a jovial dinner.

During an introduction held by the mountain guide, all the tour details are discussed and the equipment for the next few days is checked. Afterwards you will learn more about knots and ropes, important skills that you can use immediately on the acclimatization tour. In the afternoon you start with your group towards Rofenkarferner glacier to get used to the terrain. This is a mountain lift-assisted tour and is intended to prepare your body for the altitude on Similaun. Optionally, you can then decide here whether you want to continue climbing up to Wildes Mannle at 3023 m. After descending to Vent, you can spend the evening according to your preferences.

Let’s get ready! After a final equipment check, the ascent starts towards the first stage of the main tour: Similaunhütte. On your way uphill you will make a stop at Martin-Busch-Hütte. Once at Similaunhütte, you can decide whether you still have enough energy to visit Ötzi’s finding place before heading back to the hut for dinner and overnight stay.

The day of truth! From Similaunhütte the hiking guide & mountain guide will take you to the summit of Similaun at 3606m. Here it is a matter of holding on to the moment and celebrating the summit victory in Tirolean style by saying "Bergheil". You really deserved that after this strenuous ascent! On your descent to Vent you will stop at Martin-Busch-Hütte before returning to your accommodation and enjoying some relaxing moments. In the evening there will be a dinner for all participants, including a review of the past days and the presentation of the finisher goodies.

Special tip: After this unique multi-day adventure, you could take a break for regeneration at AQUA DOME - Tirol Therme Längenfeld. Or simply spend a few more days in Ötztal’s fabulous nature, for example while relaxing at lake Piburger See.

It covers your personal risks in the event of a corona infection before departure and during the trip. The travel cancellation insurance of Europäische Reiseversicherung includes travel interruption or travel cancellation in the event of Corona disease. What happens if I or a participant tests positive on site?
In the case of group trips, people who have tested positive for Corona cannot continue to participate in the trip. ÖTZTAL INCOMING and its partners take care of on-site support and the best possible return journey for the person concerned.
How does ÖTZTAL INCOMING guarantee protection against Corona when travelling?
We recommend all travelers to take care of a complete vaccination protection. Our partners comply with local regulations and safety measures.

Until when do I have to pay the deposit and make the final payment?
After receiving your booking confirmation, 20% of the travel price is due as a deposit within 10 days, the remaining sum is to be paid no earlier than 28 days prior to departure. In the case of trips booked at short notice, the travel price must be paid in full immediately. We will show you exactly when and which amount is due when completing the booking on our website or in the booking confirmation.
Is there an insolvency protection for customers?
You always book a package tour with ÖTZTAL TOURISMUS INCOMING GMBH (short: ÖTZTAL INCOMING). It means that all of your money paid to ÖTZTAL INCOMING is protected against insolvency by the applicable Package Travel Act (PRG in Austria). You will find all your advantages sent with your travel confirmation when booking a package tour in the attached "Information sheet for package tours", which we will gladly submit also in advance. How much is the deposit on my trip?
After receiving your booking confirmation, 20% of the travel price is due as a deposit within 10 days.
How can I safely pay for my trip?
You can pay for your trip by credit card (Visa, Mastercard) or by direct bank transfer to ÖTZTAL INCOMING.

Is there a packing list for my trip?
The packing list will be sent by email about one week after booking.
When and how will I receive my travel documents?
For our trip only electronic travel documents are sent by email or the complete travel documents are stored in printed form in your accommodation.

Is there a list of participants?
No. For data protection reasons we cannot provide a list of participants to other travelers.
What is the average age on my trip?
The age of the travelers can basically vary between 30 and 70 years. The trip is aimed at active people with an affinity for mountains, and stands for a community of like-minded people, regardless of their age or origin.
Where are the other participants from?
For your trip we can provide you by phone with more information about the approximate area where other guests come from. Please understand that we cannot give you any more detailed information here for data protection reasons.

Can I book half a double room as a single traveler?
We do not offer shared double rooms on this trip. If you are traveling alone, please always book the available single rooms or double rooms for single use that are shown online.
Can I book insurance through ÖTZTAL INCOMING?
We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance and mountain rescue insurance. It covers your personal risks in the event of illness before departure and during the trip or in case of a mountain accident. Can I extend or customize my trip?
Regarding your trip, we focus on the main journey and do not offer any other options. If necessary, you are welcome to tell us your wishes in writing. If possible, we will customize the trip according to your wishes.
What happens if the minimum number of participants is not reached?
According to our General Terms and Conditions (GTC), a trip can be canceled if the minimum number of participants is not reached. Up to 20 days before the start of the package tour for trips of more than 7 days. Up to 7 days before the start of the package tour for trips of up to 6 days.
What options do I have as a single traveler?
You can book a single room, often also a double room for single use.
How do I know if the trip is guaranteed?
