Summer: open from 6th June 2024 to 27th september 2024. Closed on 28th and 29th september due to 125th anniversary celebrations.
Open again on 30th september 2024 in good weather.
Winter: probably from 8th march 2025 to approx. 20th april 1025 (when the hut is closed, there is no winter room)
Similaunhütte was built over 100 years ago and is a popular base for peak climbs. The site where "Ötzi” the Iceman was found is only a 1-hour walk from the hut.
To the hut: from Vent through niedertal - via Martin Busch Hütte - across the glacier, altitude gain: 1,120 m, length: 14 km, time: 4 h
Crossings: Hauslabjoch - Schöne Aussicht, Saykogel - Hochjoch-Hospiz, crossing from north Tirol into South Tirol
Peaks: Similaun, altitude gain: 3,607 m, Finailspitze, crossing - Similaun - Marzellspitze – Hintere Schwärze
